02 Mar Why fitness is the best investment you can make, ever
There is a common belief that movement or exercise is only for people that want to lose weight, gain muscle or increase their athletic performance, but the truth is that exercise does way more than that.
For example, not only will working out according to your body and goals improve your energy levels, immune system, overall mood, productivity, capacity and self confidence, but it will also decrease anxiety, prevent many medical issues, help you get rid of pain and aches and give you a great way to clear your head and create more focus.
All these benefits will not only help your body, but increase the quality of your business and personal life as well!
As a High Performer in business you need to have more energy and focus than average counterparts to stay ahead of the curve. Because let’s face it, you can have the greatest ideas and intentions in the world, but if you don’t have the energy or capacity to follow through on them, they don’t mean a thing.
That’s why the best entrepreneurs and business leaders know that their body and health are their biggest assets and that it’s crucial to their success to take care of them.
You can have the greatest ideas and intentions in the world, but if you don’t have the energy or capacity to follow through on them, they don’t mean a thing.
But when all the programs you find online are only focused on either losing weight or gaining muscle where do you start?
Well there are a few ways to go about this, but what I found to be most effective for my clients is this 4 step approach:
- Increase Bloodflow
At this level we will increase your daily physical activities by making more powerful choices like taking the stairs instead of the elevator for example. Or maybe we’ll deliberately park our car one street further so we can get some extra steps in. All things that are extremely easy to do and that barely require any of your time.
The only time investment I ask from my clients at this stage is 10 minutes in the morning to perform a short series of exercises that will help them mobilize the body, release stress and tension and increase their brain capacity so that they are energized and focused to take on the day ahead. (Available in our free Facebook group)
- Improve General Physical Preparedness (GPP)
Our next task is building up the different energy systems to maximize your daily energy levels and capacity. The better your GPP the more work you will be able to handle in a single day and the faster you will recover from those efforts. I don’t think I need to explain how these benefits will improve the quality of your business and personal life?
Now since I’ve been working with High Performers for over 15 years, I know you’re wondering how much time out of your week you will have to dedicate to building up your GPP. All the benefits from this type of training can be yours by working out only 3 times a week for 30 minutes.
- Increase Functional Strength
At the third level we’ll introduce resistance training to build functional strength that you can use to make your daily activities easier, improve your posture, increase your metabolism and decrease your risk of injury or medical issues that appear later on in life. The goal here is not to pack as much muscle as possible, but to improve movement patterns so you can be more efficient throughout the day.
These workouts are designed to be time efficient and deliver results that might require hours of exercise in some other programs to achieve. All we need here is 3 to 4 sessions of 30 minutes.
- Make it Person Specific
To finish things off we’ll dig deeper into each previous level and see what the personal requirements and limitations are so we can be as effective as possible. It might be that you have some specific areas you want to work on or maybe you have a painful neck at the end of your day that needs some extra attention? Whatever it is to improve your wellbeing we’ll add it to the program after we have covered the basics first.
Whether you’re an athlete or not, the fact is that your body was built to move. If you live a sedentary life, there is no way that you are generating the energy, resilience, brain performance and capacity that you need to be a High Performer. Too often people see Movement as something they did when they were younger, but now it’s too difficult or time consuming to do. But, as shown above, nothing can be further from the truth.
If we incorporate all 4 levels of the High Performance Pilar Movement at once, we are looking at a time investment of only 4 hours and 40 minutes a week. I can tell you with absolute certainty that you have that time available or you can create it and that it will probably be one of the greatest investments you have ever made.
Don’t just take my word for it, but start and you’ll see results within only 4 weeks.
